After graduating from the Middle East Technical University, Department of City and Regional Planning in 1974, he worked at the Ministry of Reconstruction and Settlement, and then the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. In 1984, he participated in the establishment of TOKİ as a temporary officer. He served as the General Manager of Technical Research and Application between 1997-2003, as a member of the Higher Science Board between 2003-2012, and retired in 2012. In the same year, he received his master's degree from Middle East Technical University, Regional Planning Program. He is married and has one child.
